To the Most Important Woman In My Life

Just a little thank you for my wonderful mom.

I really don't think there are enough words to explain how thankful I am for you. The ways you have taught me, inspired me and made me smile. You are, and forever will be, the most important woman in my life. I never really get to show my appreciation for you, especially now that I am away from home, but maybe I can try.

I miss you more and more every single day. I miss your hugs, your laughing (with snorts included), and your loud obnoxious mouth. I miss your jokes, your sass and your delicious cooking. There is really nothing I don't miss about you.

You are truly the most inspiring woman I was blessed with as my mother. You not only are the hardest worker I know, but you always make sure everyone is happy before yourself. The amount of my needs you put before your own, even today, warms my heart. I know that whatever is bothering me, even the small things, you will always talk through with me. You never judge me, unless I'm being gross or annoying. Thank you for being my backbone, and supporting me no matter what. You are there for me when nobody else is. You have always believed in me, even when I don't believe in myself. You give me hope and put a smile on my face every day.

Also, thanks for making life fun. You are always up to try something new with me, like our spontaneous little road trips. I know I can always come to you for a good laugh. What I love about you is how funny you think you are, which makes you even funnier. Whenever I need a good cheering up, you are my first call.

I really cannot say thank you enough. I know at times you feel under appreciated and alone, but no matter what I do or say, I am so thankful for you. I'm sorry at times it doesn't seem like that, but I seriously have no idea what I would do without you.

Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for always making me laugh, and being there when I need to cry. Thank you for always taking care of me, and making sure I'm okay. Thank you for waking up to my text at four in the morning when I was sick and telling me what to do. Thank you for teaching me how to do life. Thank you for rubbing my back, and making me yummy snacks. Thank you for my care packages, and for calling and making my day ten times better. Thank you for being you forever and always.

Thank you for being my mom. You are the light of my life. I only hope to be even half of the woman you are one day. I hope this made your day a little bit better. I love you, Momma.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
