Mom (or Mama as I like to call you),
As the women who brought me into this world, I hope I am making you a proud mother. I feel like I don’t tell you how much I appreciate you enough. Being at college and not able to come directly to you with every one of my life problems has been difficult, but I’m thankful for technology still giving me the ability to constantly reach out to you (even when you get annoyed). I know I could pick up the phone at any hour of the day (and night) and you’ll be there to answer my every question and concern- from the major ones like what I should do with my life to the minor like when I ask you what I should eat for dinner.
Not that I didn’t always appreciate all you do for me, but being at college has made me 1000 times more grateful for the life you’ve given me. For all the times you’ve cooked me dinner and done my laundry. For driving me all over the state of New Jersey and for being patient when I made stupid mistakes. For supporting my dreams and aspirations and accepting the choices I’ve made. It is because of your work raising me that I’ve developed into the person I am today.
Although now I only get home cooked meals when I’m home on breaks, what I love most is your ability to calm me down even though we’re hours apart. Somehow you always know the right words to say even if it’s as simple as telling me to "take a chill pill". I know I drive you crazy, but sometimes just hearing your voice is all I need to give me reassurance that I’m doing just fine in this crazy world.
So I guess this is me just making sure you know how much I love and appreciate you. Just because I don’t always show my gratitude doesn’t mean I don’t feel it. I truly would be completely lost if it weren’t for you. I don’t know how you manage to do 101 things a day, but somehow you always pull it off.
So thank you Mom for everything. From giving me love to comfort, care and too many laughs to count. I really don’t think there’s anything you can’t do.
I hope that someday I can be half the incredible mother that you have been to me.
Love, your always thankful daughter
