Reading is something I spend most of my time doing, whether it be Young Adult, High Fantasy, and occasionally Contemporary. So there's nothing I look forward to more than new books that I can throw myself into a whole new world or continue one I have previously read. So these are some of the books I am most excited to read this upcoming year.

1. Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken (January 3)

This is the second book of a duology which starts of the first book is called Passenger. It all started when "one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles, but years from home. And she's inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she's never heard of. Until now."

2. RoseBlood by A.G. Howard (January 10)

This is a the start of a whole new series written by A.G. Howard which is an inspired retelling of Phantom of the Opera where the main protagonist biggest talent and her curse is nonetheless her voice."Rune Germain moves to a boarding school outside of Paris, only to discover that at this opera-house-turned-music-conservatory, phantoms really do exist."

3. History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera ( January 17)

The same author who wrote More Happy Than Not, releases another novel that shows how some might deal with grief, mental illness, and having an issue of letting go of the past. "When Griffin’s first love and ex-boyfriend, Theo, dies in a drowning accident, his universe implodes. Even though Theo had moved to California for college and started seeing Jackson, Griffin never doubted Theo would come back to him when the time was right. But now, the future he’s been imagining for himself has gone far off course."

4. A Conjuring Of Light by V.E. Schwab (February 21)

This is the third and final book in the the Shades of Magic trilogy. In the first book, A Darker Shade of Magic, "Kell is one of the last Travelers-magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes, connected by one magical city." He usually carried word to each of these different version of London until he accidentally smuggled something he shouldn't have.

5. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli (April 11)

The same author who wrote Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, will release a new novel that uses its characters to embody the different ideals of identity, love, and sisterhood.

"Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love. No matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful. Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly's totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is."

6. A Court of Wing and Ruin by Sarah J. Mass (May 2)

This the final book in a trilogy of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Honestly it's hard to give any sort of synopsis without spoiling anything in this series but I do highly recommend. The series starts of when "nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin--one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world."

7. Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han (May 2)

This is the last novel of a trilogy that started of with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Since this is the last book I can't really go into what might happen because of spoilers but I cant tell you how it all started. "Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly."

8. Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdien (May 2)

The same author who wrote The Wrath & the Dawn, created a new series that most people are comparing it to Mulan. "The daughter of a prominent samurai, Mariko has long known her place—she may be an accomplished alchemist, whose cunning rivals that of her brother Kenshin, but because she is not a boy, her future has always been out of her hands. At just seventeen years old, Mariko is promised to Minamoto Raiden, the son of the emperor's favorite consort—a political marriage that will elevate her family's standing. But en route to the imperial city of Inako, Mariko narrowly escapes a bloody ambush by a dangerous gang of bandits known as the Black Clan, who she learns has been hired to kill her before she reaches the palace. Dressed as a peasant boy, Mariko sets out to infiltrate the ranks of the Black Clan, determined to track down the person responsible for the target on her back."

9. The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr (May 2)

Follow the journey of a girl where "her mind resets itself several times a day, and has since the age of ten, when the tumor that was removed from Flora’s brain took with it her ability to make new memories."

10. The Trails Of Apollo: Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan (May 2)

The second book of The Trails of Apollo series follows the journey of Apollo as a human boy. "After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disoriented, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus's favor. " Even if it means asking help from other demigods.

11. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare (May 23)

The second book in The Dark Artifices series is hard to give a synopsis at all since it is a sequel for another book series known as The Mortal Instruments. This series is based 5 years after the City of Heavenly Fire with a whole new set of characters based in the city of Los Angeles.

12. Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab (June 13)

The final book in a duology that follows up This Savage Song. It starts with Kate Harker and August Flynn as the heirs to a divided city—"a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives."

13. Because You Love to Hate Me by Various Authors (July 11)

Thirteen bestselling authors team up with thirteen well known BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the villains' points of view. So these authors will tap in and helps us a readers to possibly understand a whole new prospectives and emotions of said villains.

14. Throne of Glass #6 by Sarah J. Mass (September)

There isn't any book title, cover, or anything at the moment released but it is rumored that the six and final book of the Throne of Glass series is released in September. Throne of Glass starts of "in a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world."

If you haven't read it yet, I HIGHLY recommend this series. I just got my grandmother to read the first book and she can't get enough.

15. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan (October 3)

This is the third book in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, which is heavily influenced by Norse Mythology. In the beginning of this series we meet a new character named Magnus Chase who lived on the streets of Boston until he was found by an Uncle thats his deceased mother deemed as dangerous. He uncle tell him that "the Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years. When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision. Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die."

If you enjoyed the Percy Jackson series, you will most likely enjoy this new series as well.

I hope that this list may have made you interested in some new series or interested in reading. I know many may not find it entertaining but trust me its awesome, you just have to find something you like.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
