Send Your Child To A School District That Has Plenty of Foreign Languages To Learn

If the school district provides the second language that the child needs to learn, then the parents do not need to teach the second language at home and pay a different school or tutor.

My school district only had Spanish and French classes. I have to learn Spanish only at elementary school and middle school. At high school, we get to choose either Spanish or French. My high school also had an APEX Chinese and APEX German class. APEX means learning the language on a computer only for one semester. They are optional classes. My classmates and I had to learn Spanish or French for at least two years so that we can graduate from high school. However, some of us needed the four years because the college that we wanted to go to required us to study a foreign language for four years at high school.

I think that my school district needs to provide more foreign languages to learn. Even though it has APEX Chinese and APEX German at high school, it is still not enough because there should be more foreign languages that students can study for a while. Not all of my high school classmates enjoyed learning foreign languages. Some stop after the second year because they did not want to do more work. However, I also thought that maybe studying the same foreign language all over again and not having plenty of other foreign languages to study made them lose their motivation. If my school district had other foreign languages to study for a while, then maybe my classmates would feel more motivated in learning foreign languages. Compared to my high school, my college provides a lot of foreign languages to study. The college students seemed more motivated in learning foreign languages than high school students.

Here is the one crucial reason why students should be sent to a school district that provides plenty of foreign languages. Some students have to learn a second language because of their parents. Some parents teach the second language to their children at home. Other parents send their child to a different school on weekends to learn the second language or hire a tutor to teach the second language to the child. Teaching the second language at home can be troublesome and time-consuming for the parents. Sending the child to a different school or hiring a tutor can be expensive. If the school district provides the second language that the child needs to learn, then the parents do not need to teach the second language at home and pay a different school or tutor. This is one good thing to keep in mind. At the same time, we also have to keep in mind which foreign language that the child wants to study.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
