Money. Do you ever notice how often in society we emphasize money and how with that it creates influence? I watched a great documentary called "The Culture High,"and it talks about marijuana usage which is a whole different topic that everyone has their opinion about. In the documentary rapper Wiz Khalifa, talks about how when he lived in Pittsburg the police saw him as a threat. Then when he became a rapper they were perfectly okay with knowing he smoked marijuana but yet do nothing about it. The documentary went on to talk about how it seems that people with money had their own set of rules, while people who didn't lived by another set? Isn't that kind of a problem, considering "All men were created equal?"

Money so often becomes a problem because we can so easily convince people to do whatever we want from them for a certain amount of money. Money has a vice grip on our life and it determines if we survive or not. We are given drugs and advertised all these terrible things in our body because some rich coorperation pays people to put out their product even when they know exactly what it does to us. The documentary (I reference it a lot because it was a wonderful source of information and a great watch) talked about how news stations are censored on what they talk about, by what gets more views and not what is important. Isn't it time that we open up our eyes to seeing what is going on in front of us and trying to change it? We shouldn't be forced to have to do anything, just because someone wants to make money off of us. If our society raised us right (and the people/person who raised us), we should be able to make informed decisions about how we want to live our life.

The biggest thing I don't want is society putting a limit or filter on us just so they can profit from it. There is a huge societal problem that divides who we are. This is not because we are different because we are all humans, but because we are all caught in this game with money and power and it is ruining us. We spend so much time focused on working harder, getting a promotion, becoming rich. When was the last time we put value in spending time with our families or being focused on the well being of other humans. We have homeless people all around the United States and millions of people suffering in other countries, while we have billionaires making money off of us and using it for their own gain. I'm not saying I'm not guilty of the same thing, I buy things for myself and live a comfortable life. What I am getting at is that I think it's time we start changing our values.

We have been a society since 1776, you think by now we would understand we need to love other humans. I think we need to stop letting our world be run by people who are only worried about making themselves money and making sure we as a human race can continue to survive and grow so we can better understand ourselves. We all are going to have our own understanding of the world, nobody thinks the same. Isn't it time we stop fighting over who can get the most money or power and try to help each other live the best lives we can?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
