To My Mom On Her Birthday,

All my life you are all I’ve known. You have been there to support me, to guide me and to love me. You have been my biggest supporter and my biggest critic. You have held my hand when I needed you most and you have let me fly when I just needed to do my own thing. You have never let me down and for that, I am oh so grateful. You have put me first since the day you found out I was going to be born. You have made major sacrifices just to make sure I have the best life and the most amazing opportunities and for that, I will never be able to re pay you. As your birthday approaches, I have begun to realize how much my life would be different if you were not in it. For the past 4 years I have not been able to celebrate your birthday with you and for that, I am so sorry. You have never once been mad at me or upset that I have missed your birthday. You have never once made me feel like I was letting you down. We have had our fights and we have had our bad times but through it all, I would never want to have that with anyone else. You have worked so hard your whole life to make sure that we never missed out on anything life could throw at us.

So as your birthday approaches remember you deserve everything that is given to you on this day. You deserve all the love in the world. If I could hand you everything you’ve ever wanted just like you have for me I would. If I could make life easy for you I would. If I could be there for your birthday believe me I would. There are so many things I wish I could thank you for but the list would be never ending. So here on your birthday are just a few things I hope you know that I will be forever grateful for and I will spend my life trying to repay you.

1) Thank you for never letting opportunities pass me by

2) Thank you for always making me feel like I could accomplish anything and everything I wanted

3) Thank you for blessing me with an amazing sister and father

4) Thank you for always putting us first before yourself

5) Thank you for all the hard work you do everyday

6) Thank you for never getting mad when we don’t thank you enough

7) Thank you for always forgiving me even when I make huge mistakes

8) Thank you for pushing me hard enough but always knowing when there is only so much I can take

9) Thank you for giving me the most amazing life and never asking for anything in return

10) Thank you for being my best friend, my biggest supporter, my inspiration, my whole entire world and the best mom I could have ever imagined.

On your birthday mom, all I ask of you is to be selfish, do what you want to do, do what makes you happy and enjoy this day and everyday after. I love you to the moon and back. Your love is radiating and remember I am always so grateful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
