9 Mistakes Everyone Makes On Game Day

It seemed like a good idea at first.

I love game day and so do most college students, however it seems like every single game day I make at least one dumb mistake I know I could have avoided. But I don’t feel that bad about it because almost everyone makes these same mistakes no matter how long they have been going to games.

1. Wearing Sunglasses to an Evening Games

It starts off sunny, but after about 30 minutes, when the sun sets, your glasses become an annoying hazard.

2. Wearing Cute Shoes That Always Hurt Your Feet

When you are putting on your boots/heels you tell yourself at least you look cute and maybe this time your feet won’t kill you, but after the first quarter you are taking off your shoes because your feet ache and wishing you had just worn your comfy shoes.

3. Not Bringing a Water Bottle to the Game

You were too lazy to carry it around during tailgates and now you are sitting there debating if you’d rather spend $6 to get water or just continue being dehydrated.

4. Accidentally Cheering for the Wrong Team

The football players are so fall away and let’s be real you weren’t paying attention for a moment there so you definitely just cheered for the other team and now you feel pretty dumb.

5. Buying Food at the Game

The concession food smells so good and you are so hungry, but it’s over priced and going to make you feel like crap. Not to mention if you bring it back to your seat, all of your friends around you are going to ask for a bite.

6. Taking Your Parents to Tailgates

Mom and Dad are in town for the game, and you have a few hours to kill before the game, take them to some tailgates because that will be fun right? No, wrong, bad idea.

7. Dressing for the Instagram Pictures not the Weather

Whether it’s super hot or cold, you didn’t care, you just wanted to look cute for the pictures, but now that you’re at the game and the pictures have been taking you are regretting your outfit choice.

8. Having too Much Fun at Tailgates

After all that excitement of tailgating, all your energy is gone and now you’re not even sure you can make it to the game.

9. Bringing too many Belongings and No Bag

Bags aren’t allowed at games, but you definitely need your wallet, keys, Chap Stick, sunglasses, and phone, so you can probably just hold them all, right? No you can’t.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
