What I Miss About High School

There is something that always triggers your thoughts back to High School.

What I Miss About High School

High School was a crucial part of growing up, and we have many memories to thank for that. The negative things are easy to remember because they stick out like a sore thumb, but it's the small moments of happiness that truly bring back high school.

Trust me, you will always be grateful for your high school teachers. Once you have college professors, you'll wish you could get an extension on your paper. These are the men and women who are there to guide you into college and adulthood. They are the ones that will listen to your problems when no one else will. Your favorites will back you up on your college choices when others teeter. When you're in their class, you feel vulnerable and confident at times, but it's to show you can do anything you set your mind to. We should be grateful for all they do, because some will even stay by your side until college and invite you over for dinner. Never let go of these relationships, because they watched you grow up too.

I know I'm not the only one who's heard "High school friends don't last." Well, I say they can, you just have to find the right ones. Find a selective few and talk and meet up with them. These are the people you ate lunch with in the same room since Freshman year. We used to laugh for hours on end or meet up in the halls in passing period to go over homework. We had each others back when there was gossip. Friends are what make high school unforgettable. Every memory tends to have them in it. When bad times came up, it was solved quickly because we didn't want to loose each other. We threw so many "parties" at lunch for Holidays, and we were the only ones that would dance during school functions. The senior trip is always an unforgettable day with laughs and so many roller coasters. We will think back on high school seeing their faces and wondering how their doing. Call and make plans with your high school friends, and make even more memories.

School spirit or your sports team will bring back great memories. It's about having a group of people come together to support each other and a school you all care about. I'll never forget my time running and being team captain two years in a row, seeing people grow and learn. I loved the bond we all shared with each other and our coach. There is nothing more powerful than a team focused on supporting each other instead of winning every match. It's to encourage a great work effort and to never give up. Having your teammates at the finish line cheering you on can help you finish strong. It gives your heart the extra power it needs to finish the game or race with confidence.

High school was a crazy roller coaster of emotions, but it's something we can never forget. We met some of the most important people in our lives and they have shaped us into who we are today.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
