I do love the South when it comes to summer. However, winter in Minnesota can’t be beaten. Here are the top five reasons why.
5. The lights.
My favorite thing to do at night is drive around and look at all the different Christmas lights. They can be simple, or they can be bold. Some neighborhoods in Minnesota even coordinate displays and link music to them.
4. The sculptures.
You have to see it to believe it, but the St. Paul Winter Festival is full of ice and snow sculptures.
3. The food.
Winter and delicious food go hand in hand. Where else would you find hot dish, lutefisk, and lefse other than Minnesota? Not to mention all the different types of cookies and desserts people bake in the winter.
2. The shopping.
Dear Mall of America, I miss you. After living in the South for five years, I have come to realize how convenient it was to have such a large mall only 20 minutes away.
1. White Christmas.
As Christmas season is nearing, I cannot wait to travel home to Minnesota for Christmas. Yes, it still gets decently cold in the South; however, Christmas does not feel like Christmas without snow. Bonus, if it snows on Christmas day!
