North Korea -- the country that nobody seems to know much about, besides what we've seen on the news and Hollywood films. The poverty-stricken republic is known for its ruthless totalitarian dictatorship and aggressive propaganda system. It has received negative attention from the American media for the past couple of decades. Besides what we hear on the mainstream media, North Korea holds some interesting and bizarre facts. Here are a few of them.
1. Pot is legal.
That's right! As strict as the supreme leader may seem, he is actually pretty tolerant when it comes to the stick icky. His rule does not consider marijuana to actually be a drug; in fact, it is viewed as a medicine.
2. Former NBA Player Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong Un are pals, or were.

3. The year is 105, not 2016.
The North Korean calendar is based off of Kim Il Sung's birthday, which occurred April 15, 1912. As bizarre as this may seem, North Koreans believe that this is in fact the date in which their daily schedules revolve around it.
4. North Korea built a fake town entirely for propaganda purposes.
The town was built in the '50s along the South Korean border to give the illusion of economic prosperity within North Korea; however, the town remains uninhabited despite its claims of civilization.
