College Midterms Week As Told By 'Star Wars'

As the semester rages on, midterms week has come upon us. While some students prep for exams all semester and some prep the morning of, we can all agree that midterms week is extremely stressful. Somehow the Star Wars universe seems to know exactly what's up.

1. The first mention of exams.

Eh, they're so far away. There's no need to worry about them yet, right?

2. Professors during lectures.

Even though midterms are the more pressing matter at hand, professors still decide to move on to material that won't be covered instead of working on content that will be.

3. "Don't wait until the last minute to start studying."

Okay, so maybe this is a terrible idea; however, there's nothing like multiple large coffees and the last minute to motivate you.

4. "The midterm exam is one week from today."

Here we see the onset of panic. The week leading up to midterms is just as bad as actual midterms week itself.

5. "The exam should be easy and won't last very long."

Of course, it's easy for you. You just made it last night, and you know what's on it.

6. Students: "Will this be on the test?" Professors:

When professors wait until a few days before the exam to even make it, it can be extremely frustrating for us when trying to study.

7. That moment when you realize how much there is to do.

Twenty-one lectures, seven weeks of homework, and many, many readings all fit into a short test? Yeah, students definitely don't have anything to be stressed about.

8. TA: "I'm hosting review sessions which you guys might want to attend."

While attending is a great idea, this doesn't exactly calm any nerves.

9. Studying at 3 a.m. the night before.

In study jams and coffee we trust.

10. The day of exams.

Even if you spent every waking moment studying, it's still hard not to feel like you could have done even more to prepare.

11. Professors during their exams.

Thanks? I'd rather you have told us better what to expect, but that's just me.

12. Looking at the first question.

Nothing kills confidence quite like getting stuck right off the bat. We're just getting the hard stuff done first, and the rest has to be easier, right?

13. "You should expect grades to be back in a few weeks, and there will not be a curve."

After everything they put us through, it's the least they could do.

14. The feeling of freedom after midterms week is over.

Just kidding, this is college. Freedom from classes doesn't actually exist. Time to do homework for the same classes you just took exams in.

The good news is that midterms are now over, but now we have the rest of the semester and finals week to worry about. On the bright side, we'll have a new Star Wars film to watch after finals!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
