Dear Daddy...

A letter to the man I love most.

I have never felt more important to any person in my life. The love I got from you was the purest and most unconditional that I have ever and will ever feel. You were the first man I ever grew to love. The man who taught me how to love. You are and always will be my hero. With my hand around your pinky, all I could ever feel was protected.

You were such an incredible man. You knew just how to make me happy and even sometimes you would make me mad just because you could. Just like any father, you always wanted the best for me. You never made me feel like you were disappointed in me. All you only ever showed me was love. The most pure, true love.

I want you to know that I am thankful for everything you did for me and every lesson you ever taught me. You taught me how to ride a bike, to wear too much cologne, and to work through math problems. You also taught me to think for myself, never take less than what I deserve, and to always believe and love me for everything I have and everything I am.

I wish you were still here. You should have been there to see me in my first show choir performance, saw me go to my senior prom or watch me walk down the field on graduation day. You weren't there to coach me on my first date or to argue with mom to let me stay out later, or even there to console me when a guy broke my heart for the first time.

There are many things that I have yet to do that I know you will miss out on. You won't be there when I move out on my own, you won't get to try to scare off the man I fall in love with, and you won't be able to walk me down the aisle. My children will live their whole lives without knowing you.

I know it may be hard, but I don't want you to worry. I am doing fine. I will never be as good as I would be if you were here, but I am okay. Life has been just fine to me, and I'm grateful that I had the time that I had with you to learn as much as I could from you. Everything that I do well is thanks to you. And you better believe I blame you for the things I do that aren't too great.

Thank you for the wisdom. You are forever in my heart, and I love you so much.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
