Meet the Pool

Meet The Pool

Eyes watery and red

The pungent smell

Permeates my clothes

A charcoal black suit now thin and silvery grey.


Oppressively hot and humid conditions

Greet the waiting competitors

Dripping sweat lurking

Freezing temperatures await the unprepared.


The eclectic compilation of music

Pounding rhythm pulses with each heartbeat

Calms and motivates

Anxiously anticipating the start.


The shrill noise of the starter's horn

Sends my flying like a falcon

Off the block,

Penetrating the water

Swiftly swimming

Exuding excitement and happiness

The gold is mine!


I swim in a pool

Like the "Little Mermaid"

with fins or legs

Out of the pool I'm human

A fish gasping for air.


A girl and a pool

Are one

A girl and boy and the clock

Are one.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
