A Letter To The Man Who Is Going To Marry My Sister

To my future brother-in-law: before you say I do, there are a few things I want to say to you.

With the wedding coming up in a month, it has finally hit me that my big sister is getting married. I think that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and I pray that you feel the same way about her, every day for the rest of your life. Before you say I do, I want to give you some tips.

Do the little things to make her feel special. My sister is unique when it comes to being loved. She is one of the most giving, compassionate people I have ever met. She loves deeply and wholeheartedly, and will do just about anything for the people she loves. I just want to remind you how lucky you are to have someone like her by your side for the rest of your life. While she loves others with everything in her, she doesn’t ask for much in return, which is what makes her so special. But don’t take advantage of this. She may act like she isn’t a big romantic but every girl likes to feel loved. Buy her flowers once a week, take her out on dates, tell her she looks beautiful even when her hair is in a messy bun and she has no make up on (which is a majority of the time). These little things will be more than enough to keep my sister happy for the rest of your lives together.

Never forget to thank her for all she does. Right now my sister has the hardest job of all, and that is being a mom. Whether she works in an office one day, or has to stay at home because there are three more Zach-juniors running around, let her know how much you appreciate all that she does for you and your family. Thank her for cleaning the house; you can always count on her to never leave a speck of dirt behind. Tell her the chicken she makes for dinner is good even when it is dry. Thank her for color coding your closet even though an aesthetically pleasing closet doesn’t excite you the way it excites her. But most importantly, thank her for being a mom, because that is what she does best.

Just let her win the argument. Lets just face the facts… you are never going to win. As we all know my sister can be very hard-headed and stubborn at times, but you have to learn to love her for it. She will never back down from an argument so I advise you to just let her win, and save yourself from sleeping on the couch for a few nights.

Never forget to say “I love you.” My sister loves you more than anything in the entire world. Trust me, she would not be marrying you if she didn’t feel that way. My sister is a perfectionist and doesn’t settle for anything or anyone, so in her eyes, you are as close to perfect as they come. I only hope that you feel the same way about my sister. She deserves to feel loved every day for the rest of her life, and I hope you can do that for her. There should never be a day that goes by that she questions the way you feel about her. She should always feel like the most beautiful girl in the world when she is around you. The last tip I will give to you is never forget to say “I love you.”

Love,

Her baby sister

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
