A Man Of God

A few ways to know he's worth the wait.

A Man Of God

There are a lot of myths about what a man of God truly looks like. The bible clearly says not to be "unequally yoked," but what does that mean for a Christian woman? In the bible times, people often used mules for transportation or for work. Any time several mules were used to carry something, they would be attached with an invention called a yoke. The way it worked was, if one mule was strong than the other or pulled harder, the other would hold them back. In the same way, relationships are like a yoke, tying you to your significant other. No matter how hard you try to pull forward and run towards the Lord, your relationship will hinder you if the other person isn't working just as hard. Here are a few things that I have found to be true about a true man of God.

1. A man of God will pray with you.
He shouldn't be afraid to hold your hands and pray with you about your relationship, your families or anything else that is going on in your lives.

2. A man of God will pray for you.

The only time he prays shouldn't be when he's with you. He should pray for you every day simply because he cares for you. When you are feeling sick, when you're having a hard time getting along with someone at work or if you're just having a bad day, the first thing he should offer to do is pray for you.

3. A man of God will read his bible consistently.

He will be in the word often, and have a true relationship with God. He will be actively reading, memorizing and contemplating scripture.

4. A man of God will encourage you with scripture.
It's one thing for a man to comfort you when you're nervous by saying "Don't worry! You'll do great!" But imagine a man comforting you as you're about to walk into an interview by saying, "I know you'll do well, because God said so. In Isaiah 1:9 He says 'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid! For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.' And even if it doesn't work out, trust God's will and plan for your life. He knows what He's doing."

5. A man of God will be open in his faith.
He will initiate conversations about God with not only you but others too.

6. A man of God will not judge others.
He will recognize that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, including him, and he will love others as Christ loves us.

7. A man of God will be evangelistic.
He will be sharing God's love with others and discipline them. If you want a man to someday share the love of Christ with your children, this is important.

8. A man of God will have better things to do than try to be physical.
If a man is truly seeking the Lord, and Christ is at the center of your relationship, he shouldn't even be considering making the relationship more physical because he knows there is a time and place for everything, and there are so many more important things he can focus on.

I should add the disclaimer that there are probably some wonderful, God-seeking men out there who do not do all of the things on this list, but every man of God should be aiming to do all of these things.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
