There are so many things to stress about in college. Bills, homework, tests, and other obligations are just a few of these. The two most stressful parts of each semester are Midterm week and Finals week, finals especially. So, how do you survive finals week? Well, here are just a few tips that have always helped me out.
Drink plenty of coffee.
Seriously, I know this is a stereotype about finals week and, well, college in general, but there's a good reason for that. You need to stay alert and focused when studying for the test and when taking it.
Get a good night's sleep every night.
I know it sounds like common sense to refrain from partying the night before a final, but remember that staying up all night studying the night before a test can be just as bad for you, because it still keeps you from getting the rest you need.
Comprehensive finals are actually your friend.
If you've been tested on it before, and did well, why wouldn't you be able to do well on it again? All you should need to do is refresh your memory on the material and you'll be good to go. If you didn't do well before, now is your chance to ask your professor or a tutor to help you understand it.
If it's not comprehensive, it's just another test.
Sure, it may count for more of your grade, but if a final is not comprehensive, studying for it should be just like studying for any of the other tests you've taken in that class. Just study the way you normally would, and if it's been working for you you should be just fine.
Just breathe.
Stressing will only make things worse. Relax, have some faith in yourself, study what your professor says to study, and DO NOT second-guess yourself during the test. Be confident in your answer and give yourself a break.
