Why Luke And Lorelai Belong Together

I'm on Lorelai's side of the "Gilmore Girls" debate.

So pretty much everyone is well aware of the ongoing "Gilmore Girls" debate about who Rory should end up with, but what about Lorelai? There is only one guy who has been there for Lorelai through it all, and who she should ultimately be with: Luke Danes.

Firstly, Luke has been committed to a relationship with Lorelai from the start; he has, and always will be "all in." Luke has always loved Lorelai, he just didn't realize it himself until he reluctantly listened to those hilarious self-help tapes in Season 4, and found that when the voice of the tapes prompted him with questions like "whose phone calls/visits are never unwanted or too long?" he "can see her face." He saved the horoscope she gave him the very first time they met and kept it in his wallet for eight years, turning something insignificant into something truly romantic, which shows the depth of his feelings for her from the start.

Luke was there for Rory her whole life. He was there to see her grow up, helped celebrate her birthdays, blubbered at her high school graduation, and was genuinely angry and worried when he found out that Rory had dropped out of Yale. I think this is the moment when Lorelai realizes that he is, as she puts, "the whole package" that she has always been looking for. What more could she want in her perfect man than a loving and reliable father to Rory?

Ok, yes, things between them went south in the last couple seasons (the seasons I like to pretend are not truly part of the Gilmore Girls canon.) Luke did make a big mistake by not telling her about April, but her running off to Christopher was at the very least an equally terrible decision. She was just acting out because she really loves Luke, and he did what he did because he loved Lorelai so much that he didn't want to screw up their relationship. They both made mistakes, but in the end, as we see in the final episode, they both know that they belong together.

For all the Max Medina fans out there, I will admit that he really was great to her, but she never loved Max. They don't have the history and the closeness that Luke and Lorelai share, and are not utterly themselves when they're together like her and Luke have been from the moment they met.

Luke not only puts up with Lorelai's antics, but plays along with her. He loves everything about her and is there for her no matter what. Even when they are broken up but she is heartbroken and needs her friend (during the answering machine fiasco of Season 5,) he still comes over to make sure she's ok. He doesn't often show her how he feels with words, but with gestures - he builds her an ice rink so she can learn how to skate, he teaches her how to fish in a kiddie pool, he is always telling her to eat healthier, and so much more. These gestures prove that he genuinely cares about her and would do anything to make her happy, including moving a mattress out of Rory's room at Yale, back in, and back out again all in one day. He is her best friend, and in the end, that is the most important thing a partner can be.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
