Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or have been seriously deprived of happiness, you’re aware of the television treasure that is Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls follows the ups and downs of the unstoppable mother and daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, as they each navigate their way through adolescence and adulthood. Both women are revered for their love of coffee, encouragement of one another and always being armed with a witty comeback up their sleeves, if necessary -- which it usually is. But perhaps the most relatable character of all was Paris Geller -- Rory’s classmate and, eventually, close friend and roommate. You either loved or hated her, or were constantly going back and forth between your feelings toward her. Nonetheless, you could always jump on board with Paris when it came to her struggles with love.
Like when you’ve been out of the dating pool for so long, you don’t even realize someone could be remotely interested in you.
And once you’re finally getting for the date, you lose all the self-confidence you ever had.
She proved that small talk isn’t always easy.
But like us, she discovered dates aren’t always as nerve-wracking as they’re hyped up to be.
Public displays of affection can be cute, but also confusing.
When it comes to going after who you want, those younger girls will sneak their way in every time.
Though she is flawless in our eyes, she had no problem admitting that even she has her limits.
She proved that ultimately break-ups can sometimes feel like
the end of the world.
And that the only successful cure for a break-up is food.
And more food.
And even though there may be some tough nights, sleep can do wonders for a girl, especially when you’re dreaming about Ruby Rose (though you may try to deny it).
Leading her to come to the conclusion we all know to be true.
And when things weren’t going so well in the love department,
she always had words of wisdom to pass on to others.
Especially, when it needed to be said.
Her words also proved effective when protecting her best friend against her douche bag of an ex-boyfriend when he tried to win her back.
But she realized that, despite some failed attempts, that
shouldn’t stop you from getting out there and flaunting what you got.
Sometimes, you’ll be successful in charming the pants off someone, and other nights you’ll be devoting your attention to your couch with some Netflix to cuddle up with. You just gotta be willing to take it all with a grain of salt.
Because you’re independent as hell and don’t need to count on someone else to make you happy.
You’ll get by because -- let’s face it -- just like Paris, you’re pretty awesome.
