Loving Yourself Is Harder Than It Seems

Loving Yourself Is Harder Than It Seems

The amount of women in today’s society that are completely unsatisfied with their body is scary. Eating disorders, anorexia in particular, in women are one of the highest killers in adolescents. Left and right I hear of girls doing juice cleanses or eating only 1200 calories a day to try and lose 5 pounds. What ever happened to loving the skin you are in? Some women aren’t built to healthily weigh 120 lbs. But it seems that all people ever focus on are the extremes. Oh, she’s way too tall, she’s 5’9”, but if she’s 5’1” she’s too short. Or if she isn’t muscular, she’s lazy and fat, but heaven forbid she’s “too muscular.” It seems as though there is a small group of women who have the ideal look, like Tina Fey so accurately said, “Now every girl is expected to have Caucasian blue eyes, full Spanish lips, a classic button nose, hairless Asian skin with a California tan, a Jamaican dance hall ass, long Swedish legs, small Japanese feet, the abs of a lesbian gym owner, the hips of a nine-year-old boy, the arms of Michelle Obama, and doll tits.”

There are a few celebrities who really focus on providing women with a positive body image, and teaching them to love themselves. Here are some of them:

Demi Lovato

Everyone remembers a few years back when Demi was touring was the JoBros and Demi accidentally punched one of her backup dancers. Following the incident she told the world about her depression and eating disorder, and from there, her life has been great. She is always promoting being healthy... Which is something that some women forget about.

Jennifer Lawrence

If you haven’t seen a JLo gif about eating potatoes or eating all the time, then you must live under a rock. This girl is hilarious and loves talking about how much she eats and how unhealthy she eats. She is not ashamed to talk about her body and weight, which is refreshing and definitely boosting to girls self-confidence.

Miley Cyrus

Well, after Miley swung her naked-self around on a wrecking ball for three and a half minutes it became very clear that Miley has no problem with her body and everyone else should love their bodies as well.

Remember to love yourself and everything about you... Because God only gave you one body, so take care of it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
