Dear Mom, Thank You.

Dear Mom,

Thank you.

Thank you for always being there for me and reassuring me that life will work out exactly how it is supposed to. Thank you for listening to me talk for hours about things that you and I both know aren't all that important. Thank you for being there for me as not only my mom, but my best friend when I was going through hard times.

I am confident in the things I believe in and I love the person I am becoming because of you. Thank you for supporting every decision I have ever made even if you didn't entirely agree with them. You have let me make my own mistakes, and learn from them and for that I am grateful. Thank you for helping me find my way back up when I was down.

Thank you for giving me so many siblings, and friends, to laugh with, fight with, and love. I know I used to complain about them twenty four seven, but the older I get the more I appreciate my big family. Thank you for allowing me to graduate early, moving away from home at only 17. I know this wasn't very easy for you, but I intend on making you proud.

Thank you for being there for me when I had fights with my friends, and thank you for showing me that not everyone you think is a friend really is. Thank you for allowing me to cry about things even when you think I'm over reacting.

Thank you for understanding my anxiety. Thank you for helping me through the darkest period of my life, and motivating me to get out of the hospital and better myself. Thank you for not going insane when I send you 100 texts while you're at work because I am in the middle of a panic attack, and you are usually the only one that can help me.

Thank you for allowing me to form my own beliefs on things like religion and politics. I know this is something that may be hard in a family like ours, but thank you for never forcing our families beliefs on me. Thank you for allowing me to be open minded, and for NEVER telling me my beliefs are wrong.

And finally, thank you for being my mom. I know you didn't really have much say in this one, but I am thankful that I got a mother like you that cares about her children and wants the best for them.

I love you.

- Lexi xoxo

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
