Dear little sister,

No matter how many times I say it, know how much I love you. Know that you are my forever friend and go-to person. Having a sister has been one of life's biggest blessings. And no matter what, we will always be best friends. Lucky you, you're stuck with me.

Thank you for being the best secret-keeper and the person I can trust most. You know me better than I know myself sometimes. Thank you for always listening to my rants and my cries and my laughs and my stories. I'm sure that I'm annoying, but you're my favorite person to annoy.

I know you think that I am crazy and weird, but no matter what I say, I actually think you're pretty cool. You're always showing me new things, from makeup to music. You have a great sense of style and an even better taste in food. Thank you for always letting me eat food off your plate and grabbing coffee with me all the time.

All the stupid fights growing up over stealing each other's clothes and now we live in each other's closets. Actually, I am wearing your shirt right now. I am so thankful that we wear the same size clothes and shoes.

Know that I am always here for you, even if I am just a phone call away. You can come to me about anything and everything. Maybe I don't tell you enough, but just know how proud I am of you and all that you are becoming. Through thick and thin, I will always be your big sister who loves you. No fight or mistake will ever change that.

And thank you, for teaching me so many things. While I have tried to teach you everything I know and to learn from my mistakes, you are the one who has been teaching me. You've taught me how to appreciate the little things by not taking anything for granted. You've taught me the best (and the absolute worst) jokes. You've taught me that life is about more than just yourself.

Most importantly, don't let anyone compare you to me. You are so much more than me. You are all of me plus all of you and so much more. I want you to be you, not me. You know I will hold you to the highest standards because I know what you're capable of, even when you don't.

My little sister, you are beautiful, intelligent, determined, and ever so talented. Follow your dreams and pursue your passions. Work hard and never give up. You are capable of more than you will ever know, so don't be afraid to try. I will always be your number one fan cheering you on. I am so proud of you and I can't wait to continue to watch you grow up.

I love you always,

Your big sister

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
