I can't be the only one who goes mental during The Olympics.
I mean screaming at the TV, running around the house, jumping off the furniture mental.
The Olympics symbolize unity among all nations, to come together and compete and show good to great sportsmanship.
But The Olympics also symbolize, for me an American, how great it is to be one.
It truly is the best reminder of why we are one of the greatest nations and why we should be damn proud of it.
Only five days into The Olympics, and the best of the best have already showed tremendous reason on why the American flag is being raised the highest at every medal ceremony and here are a few reasons why...
Michael Phelps and Lilly King showed that when you mess, taunt, or try to act like you're better... Well, we know how that outcome was and how bad A was it?
*note to self*
Don't wag your finger number one or "get hype" in front of a legends face. A wave of disappointment and embarrassment will shortly come after.
The USA Women's Gymnastics showed that when you work together as a team, and love and support one another, nothing but great things happen.
And may I add that during an interview with the ladies after the award ceremony, Simon Biles was asked on how she felt about being said to be one of the greatest gymnasts ever and she NOT ONE TIME said anything about herself. Instead she thanked and said how supportive her teammates were and how they all had her back no matter what.
Class. Act.
Katie Ledecky showed that when you work hard and put all of your mind, body, and soul into something you are passionate about, you not only break world records, but you become the person you have always dreamed of being.
This chick is going to go down in history y'all, just saying
Serena Williams showed that even though you may get beaten doesn't mean you can't get back up and show what you're made of.
Don't think I would want to play the person who racks it up at Wimbledon either. Serena is also an awesome reminder of where non stop dedication will get you.
As Americans, we don't take crap from anyone else, we don't let anyone tell us they are better without damn good reasoning and to show for it. We stick together, and support one another. We have passion and drive and even though we act like we are better than everyone else sometimes.. Most of the time we are.
We should be proud to be Americans not just during The Olympics but EVERY SINGLE DAY
I love this country despite it's flaws
I love this country because I am FREE
I love this country for what it is
I love this country because we stick together
I love this country because we are different yet we are unified
Freedom ain't free y'all .. So run and tell that.
