To my beloved snow,
Where have you been? It’s December now and while I know it is still technically fall, your presence is missed, and I would love for you to come visit me. In case you are confused by my relocation this year, I need you to travel to La Crosse, WI. I noticed you blanketed the ground in Minnesota only a week ago and while I am eternally grateful for that lovely gift awaiting me at home, I must admit I feel neglected here at school. The ground is dead, the leaves are gone, the air is crisp, and I am waiting for you with an open and eager heart.
Now, I’ll confess I have some apologizing to do. I’m sorry for the things I said last year—it’s just you kept on coming and while I do admire your beauty, it was April and I just needed a break. I’m sorry for what I said and I am ready to mend our relationship. You’ve always been forgiving in the past, and I would love to see you again. I’ve really cleaned up my act since the last time I saw you. I got new boots, new windshield wipers, and a nice warm coat with mittens and a hat to match. I think you’ll find my new appearance more accepting of all of you have to offer.
And if that isn’t enough to make you come back, please remember that I too, have been forgiving of you in the past. Remember the year you stayed until May? I ran track meet after track meet in the snow, risking injury and frostbite. Or what about the year you prevented my sister from making it home for Christmas? That was a pretty harsh thing you did, but there I was willing to forgive. Or how about all those scary car rides you caused? Truly I appreciate you, but I do request that you work on your timing.
Now, maybe you have some big surprise planned for me, like a Christmas Eve snow or a happy end of the semester snow…But I’m begging you to come now. I’ve waited months and months for this season and I am ready to celebrate with you! I have all sorts of fun activities planned for when you arrive, like sledding, ice skating, snowman building, hot cocoa making, and Christmas celebrating! So please, dear friend, consider returning to the La Crosse area as fast as you can.
It’s plain and simple really. It’s just not Christmas without you.
Love always,
The Snowflake Fanatic
