Love, Heartbreak, And Vulnerability

Ten steps that help you survive heartbreak.

Romance perfects your world while breakup tears you apart. Even though you have realized that the game is over, you cannot resist the memories flooding back. It hurts, but the wounds will build you up. One day, you will regain your strength in the ultimate vulnerability.

"To love is to be vulnerable." C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

But love is beautiful, so is heartbreak. Follow the 10 steps to take back your life.

1. Don’t lose yourself.

If you are now drowning in the emotional whirlpool, drink some water and slowly take back your breath. It’s tempting to live within that person, but you want to remember who you are. Stay true to yourself *with a lot of consciousness* and find your balance back in life.

2. Accept the reality

Write down why your relationship fails. It's tough to face the reality but such cruelty is necessary to moving on.

3. Focus On The Future

Focus on what is most important to you. It’s time to start moving forward because time will not wait for your recovery. You have to grasp every moment and work towards what you want to be.

4. Cry deeply

You look back to the “forever happy days” and mourn over the loss. You think of a hundred what-ifs and imagine how you could have changed the way. After 3 nights of release, you are ready for a rebirth.

5. Write everything down

Words reveal your naked feelings. Keep a journal that honestly chronicles your ups and downs. As you mature, you will witness how time preaches you the most valuable lessons in life.

6. Save everything and forget it.

It’s important to not look back. Things are kept in sake and you are now free to go. Stop dwelling on the pictures, messages, and screenshots. You are going to start a brand new life.

7. Share your time with a soulmate.

Having a significant other can save you from never-ending heartbreak. Find someone who accepts your flaws and loves you back. Trust someone and honestly confess your feelings. It’s hard to have a soulmate, but once you get one, the return will be unbelievably rewarding. (Shout out to my best friends Skye and Elaine!)

8. Live another book.

Find your shadow in another story. Go to the Museum of Broken Relationships and realize that others have history too. Listen to the songs on breakups. Know that heartbreak is normal and you will be fine just as the others.

9. Have the courage to start over.

Let the world fall apart, then regain the courage to start all over again. The world is big and you have so much more to explore. Be soft and resilient. Then you will go far beyond and seek your next true love.

10. Succeed In Heartbreak

Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.” – Kurt Vonnegut

We hope you all succeed in heartbreak. :)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
