There has been a saying that has recently stood the test of time. The saying is as goes: "you need to love yourself before you can be loved by anyone else." I am here to say that this saying is 90% wrong. You don't need to love yourself in order to be loved by someone else. The only reason this statement is 10% correct is because you do need to like yourself to an extent. That way you know how to give love once you receive it.

Other than that this saying is completely wrong. Who is to tell you that you are not good enough to be loved just because you do not like yourself fully? Everyone is good enough to receive love whenever they please. Sometimes it takes that one person to love you so much that you finally start seeing that you are worth more than you will ever know.

That person can be your family, friends, or a significant other. For me, I experienced this with my family. My mother and father have loved me so much growing up that I see the worth in myself. For others though that is not the case. Finding someone you love who loves you in return can help a person grow.

Either way, people deserve love whether or not they love themselves. Bottom line.

There is really not much more to say. If you are someone who believes that you have to love yourself completely before loving someone else then shame on you. Maybe that person cannot love themselves because of a past trauma, or because they have a mental illness. If those people do not deserve love because they cannot love themselves then honestly no one deserves to be loved. Love clichés are not always the best advice to go after.
