Moving onto the next chapter in my life without you is probably one of the strangest things that's happened since I went to college. I never thought that we would separate like this, and I’m sure you didn’t either. I always thought of you as my forever friend — the girl who’d be standing at the alter with me as my maid of honor. I remember we always talked about being in each other’s weddings, how crazy is it to remember watching those movies like "Bridesmaids" or "Bride Wars," and getting so excited because you were the blonde to my brunette, just like in all the movies.
I thought of you as more of my sister than just any old best friend, which is why such a piece of me feels like it’s missing since you’ve gone. I often wonder if you feel the same as I do, like your constantly forgetting to do something or be somewhere, but it’s not a place or thing; ironically it’s a person, your missing puzzle piece. I wonder if you look at our old pictures and laugh, because we always took them no matter the place or time. I wonder if you glance at old messages between us, just because your thinking of me. I even wonder if you’ve kept the presents I’ve given you over the years.
I can’t tell you why it ended up like this, or really even how, but I do hope your genuinely happy in life. After struggling with grief from losing you, I’ve began to accept the loss of our friendship as not so much a loss but a gain, because I was able to connect with such an amazing person in my life. Regardless of circumstances, I do think you're a great person despite losing each other, and want you to know my heart will always have a special place for you. From our laughs to our tears, we stood by each other through it all.
I can’t thank you enough for the memories we’ve shared and the connection I’ve experienced with you. No other person on this planet knew me like you and I’m forever grateful for having such an influential friendship. Our connection opened me up to a deeper level of love and appreciation that I never even knew was possible. From spending our summers together to our millions of sleepovers, there’s no one I would have rather had by my side. I hope one day you can see this, maybe stumble across it without realizing and read what I have to say because I truly do mean every word. More importantly, I have hopes that maybe one day we can settle our differences, and I can have that piece of me back, but until then I want you to know that I miss you and will always care about you wherever you are in this world.
