People come and go from our lives everyday, but that doesn't mean the "go" gets any easier. In college, we think we meet forever friends; people who will support us through anything and never judge us for the mistakes we make.
The time we shared with them was golden and irreplaceable, but unfortunately, there comes a time when tension gets high and patience is short. Words get thrown around and feelings get hurt, and what used to be a great, healthy friendship is now in tatters.
To the friend I recently lost,
We made so many attempts to salvage what we had before everything blew up, and unfortunately our wounds were still fresh and our pride was too high.
All we could do was step back an reevaluate our feelings and our situation. We both realized we had gotten into different places in our lives; places that didn't necessarily involve the other. The only way we could solve our problem was to put out friendship on hold and give ourselves time to grow, rediscover, and heal.
Healing is one of the most difficult but necessary things.
We don't always understand the reasons why things happen the way they do or why they even happen in the first place, but our God works in mysterious ways; ways we don't always think are just and fair, but He knows the plans He has for us.
These hardships are meant to refocus us and to build us, It's possible that we need some time apart, so the friendship can survive, or our friendship served the purpose it was meant to.
If we're not meant to find each other again, then just know you gave me some of the best memories of my life, and I don't regret a single moment I spent with you. If we find a way back to each other, it won't be the same at first; we'll have to learn each other again and build up the trust we used to have.
Our rhythm will come back to us.
With anything that happens, I will always care for you, and I will welcome you with open arms if you ever need me. You taught me what a true friend is and what it's like to be unconditionally supported, and I can never thank you for the blessings you gave me.
Until next time.
