My mom always jokes around about how she wasn't as smart as I am when she went to school and we always make fun of her for not being studious. However, here are the reasons why I look up to my mom more than anyone else in this world, no matter how many degrees they may have.
1. She is the best cook.
Whether it's Italian food, Korean food, or her baking attempts, her meals are the best. She doesn't ever need a recipe for anything. She will somehow find a way to make everything taste good.
2. She is extremely organized.
I’ve never seen anyone’s planner as well organized, as colorful, and as creative as hers. If you look at her planner, she always draws something small to remember what she did that day. She is always on top of everything that she needs to do. Even if her schedule may be hectic from running a bunch of errands, preparing every meal, and cleaning, she is always doing it with a happy heart.
3. She is extremely fun.
Whether it is working out together, shopping, or watching small snippets of K-drama, time with my mom is always spent laughing. She has an extremely positive outlook on life and never lets anything get her down. I would never trade our random, crazy dance parties for anything in the world.
4. She is wise.
Not only is she good at knowing how to take care of us when we are sick, but she is someone who can adapt to any environment. My mom is someone who may not be the best at speaking English, but she can get through life better than anyone (even me). She is hardworking and knowledgeable about life.
5. She has the biggest heart.
Her first instincts are to put other people first. I remember one day when it was pouring outside and I missed my bus, so she decided to drive me to school. On our way, we saw another student starting to walk to school. I didn't quite know him, but I knew that we shared the same bus stop. When she saw him, she said that we should give him a ride. Embarrassed, I protested, but she drove both of us to school nonetheless. She is always willing to offer a helping hand.
6. She loves Jesus with everything she has.
I definitely overcomplicate religion and make petty excuses as to why it's so hard to be a Christian or why the church life isn't for me. However, she devotes her life to praising God, not for anyone else or because other people think that she's a good person for going to church, but because she truly cherishes her relationship with Him. Being around her makes me want to know this even more for myself.
These (plus more) are the reasons why I love her, why I respect her, and why she is my best friend.
