A list to help you decide.

Is Living in Indiana Bad?

Living in Indiana has its pros and cons, that's for sure. Some people think that it seems like the worst place to live, but is it really that bad? You can be the judge of that based on this list!

1. Lots of small towns.

Most of these are small farming towns. Indiana is known best for one thing: corn. There are cornfields almost everywhere, except for the few urban areas.

2. Brutal winters.

Winter here sucks. There's no light way to put it. Yeah, playing in the snow is great when you're a kid, but it gets old after a while.

3. Weather's always changing.

It could be 80 degrees and sunny one day and 50 and raining the next. The weather in Indiana just can't ever seem to decide what it wants to do.

4. Close to big cities.

Many areas in Indiana are driving-distance away from the bigger cities in surrounding states, like Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Detroit. And of course there's Indianapolis.

5. No one comes here.

This goes with the previous one. If you want to go see your favorite singer or any celebrity who might be touring the country, you have to drive a few hours to get to a city where they'll be performing.

6. Seasons.

As opposed to some states where it seems like there aren't any seasons, Indiana almost has a different season every week! It's especially bad for allergies in the spring and fall.

7. Republicans.

Indiana is usually a Republican state in elections. Our Governor is Republican, and so are most of the members of the General Assembly. If you're a Republican, this is great for you. Most other people that live here share your views. But for anyone else, it might not be too great. Our state also usually isn't too important in Presidential elections, so we usually don't see many candidates in our areas (refer to #5).

8. Great for road trips.

Since many things are located far away from a city where you may live, you have plenty of opportunities to grab your friends and drive.

9. Big colleges.

Indiana is known for some of their colleges, like Notre Dame, IU, and Purdue. Students who graduate from high school in Indiana don't always have to worry about travelling out of state to get their degree from a big-name school, and they can still have the college experience by living on campus.

10. Corn mazes.

Since there's corn everywhere, there are plenty of opportunities for corn mazes! Corn mazes are a great way to keep the kids entertained in the late summer and fall. Some farmers get pretty creative with their maze designs.

11. No alcohol on Sundays.

Yes, Indiana is one of the few states where you're still not allowed to buy alcohol on Sundays. If you like buying alcohol on Sundays, you'll hate it here. Make sure to stock up on Saturday.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
