One of the greatest challenges I have ever faced happened in the summer of my freshman year. During this time I first was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and social anxiety.
Because of the difficulty of learning to cope with this disorder, I withdrew from my friends, family, school, and completely lost focus of the goals in my life. Then one day I realized that I had dreams and ambitions, but the mindset I had was not going to help me accomplish them. I valued my life, my friends, and my future, yet I wasn’t proving it to anyone, definitely not myself.
My whole psyche revolutionized, as I remembered what made me and the goals I have. At the time, I wanted to become a world famous singer, touring the world and connecting with others through music. I wanted to help people. I wanted to make an improvement in my life and not let go of the idea that I could do anything. After this I took the initiative to talk to my teachers about bringing up my grades. I worked hard to improve in my classes and to pass an AP exam as well. I also put new effort into building up relationships with my family and friends who supported me as I learned to manage my illness.
