Would You Rather Lose Your Morals or Your Memory?
Everyone gets twenty-four hours every day yet some use effectively and some not. It's the small innocuous values which differentiate successful and unsuccessful people. Sometimes we wear so many brand names such as Roots, Woodland, Nike, Gucci or Calvin Klien that we forget our own name. No disrespect to these companies but don't let someone else's name be the reason for your happiness. Today is the day to recognize your own value.
Living a life of value is an art that many of us have not mastered. Having a life filled with value is like a GPS, if you take a wrong turn still you'll reach your final destination. The only problem is we don't have a GPS lady in our brain to tell you that it is a wrong turn. Without value, living life is like a dog who doesn't know how to smell. Create your own boundary and try to live within. Prioritize mind and body before anything external such as money or relationship.
Now you're probably thinking which values will improve my life. Just ask this question, When do you feel the most right? Think off all the time you felt more content and at peace than ever. For me, it's the beautiful sunset, when I go for running and inhale fresh air, writing blogs and interviewing people. When was the last time you felt alive and excited?
Your values have to around your own corner of happiness. It differs from individual to individual. Try to accept yourself the way you're right now. Put yourself first!
Ideally, we want to run all of our decisions through our values, these are what make us. Life is the byproduct of the values and habits we do on a daily basis. Who do you actually want to be in five or ten years? Think for a minute and write down this in your journal. Whatever you wrote be consistent (Value) for your goal. If you wrote I want to be a businessman. Search Google which values do businessman need to have. Find out the best business in your country, E-mail them for an internship, meet and work with them.
How do you want to feel? When you wake up, when you go to sleep, when you go to the grocery store, at the end of the year. You've to literally talk with yourself in order to live a life filled with value. I know it's insane but you need to ask these questions to yourself. Self-reflection every weekend is another value you need to have. Just analyze the things you did wrong during the week and correct them for next week.
What do you stand for? What keeps you awake at night? What do you believe in? Give your life your own mantra. What your values look like on a day to day basis. You've to know which game are you playing so you can play with the right rules. Similarly, you've to know which values bring you happiness.
