My relationship with my younger sister is pretty confusing. One minute I’m begging her to go shopping with me, and a minute later I want to slap her silly. Over my last seventeen and a half years of sisterhood, I’ve learned quite a lot, and I’m sure many other siblings can relate.

Here’s one thing any pair of sisters knows to be true: anything that you claim as your own is also your sister's. Get a new pair of shoes, four feet will be wearing them. New dress? She’ll probably wear it first. Even your bed is not just yours to sleep in.

Sisters have slumber parties too, usually when you need your own bed the most. Oh, and my personal favorite: sharing a car. It was a dream come true getting a car for my sixteenth birthday, but a year and a half later my present had to be shared. The car was mine first, but let me tell you, that will not stop my sister from taking it anywhere and everywhere (without talking to me first).

Oh, I forgot to mention the matching outfits every mom LOVES.

The worst and best part about being a big sister, or a big brother, is that you have to set a good example. I say one bad word and my mom freaks out. But if I say my sister says that all the time, the answer every single time is, “So what if you’re sister said it, you are supposed to be a good example.” This is a blessing and a curse all in one. Yeah, it is really annoying to always have to be on your best behavior, but I’ve learned a lot from it. I have become really responsible because I know there are people following in my footsteps. I have learned how to problem solve (since we fight a lot), and I've learned how to share by sharing every item I own. I've learned how to be a team player by rearranging my plans so I could pick up my siblings since that would make mom’s life easier. I’ve learned how important it is to appreciate my siblings and do anything to help my family.

Despite the many ups and downs of having a little sister, you also have a built-in friend: someone to get dinner with, someone to pick out your clothes, someone to be there for you through anything the world throws at you. Sisters have a funky relationship, but I know that when I really need her, my sister would be there for me in seconds.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
