The indie electro-pop that you've been looking for.

“Hello my friend, I see you’re back again”

Mike Snow; the only artist that I will listen to in the shower. Based in Sweden, this band has been on of my go-to's since 2010, three years after they were founded. This indie, electro-pop group has worked with celebrities such as Britney Spears, producing “Toxic.”

According to Pandora Radio, some of the similar artists are: M83, Empire of the Sun, Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, The Xx, MGMT, Passion Pit and STRFKR.

So, here listen to these:

1. Animal

This was the first track that I heard from them and it reminds me of my brothers old mix CD’s he would play on the way home from high school. This song pretty much sums up my high school life with the quote, “I change shapes just to hide in this place but I’m still, I’m still an animal.”

2. Padding Out

I like the beat of this song. It's strong and as a dancer, strong beats are what I like best. This music video is pretty awesome too; it has “aliens” that dress up like they’re in colonial times. Who doesnt love a big powdered wig and big ruffly shirts? I’m not going to spoil the rest of the music video, but while writing this I did end up watching it about 5 times.

3. The Wave

This song gets stuck in my head a lot. Like a lot, a lot. The simplicity of the electronic piano and the drums in the background make this song super calming. With not many words and a simple beat I’m sure that this song will get suck in your head as well. By the way, this music video continues the story from Paddling Out’s video.

4. Burial

This soft and mellow song doesn’t match the title at all. This song has one of my favorite quotes by them; “Sympathy is overrated, like a snapshot when you lost the game.”

5. Black and Blue

The quote from the top of this is from this song. "Hello my friend, I see you're back again." This song has a neat music video and this has been my favorite songs of theirs for a while. With lyrics like, “The dog is always barking at the mailman,” you simply cannot dislike this song.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
