This is a list of alternatives. These are things to do instead of whatever you are doing or feeling. Whether you feel stressed, anxious, or self-deprecating. Whether you are bored or trying to get your mind off of that thing that's bothering you. This list is for you.

1. Splatter paint.

2. Go outside and watch the sky.

3. Memorize a poem/song/story.

4. Draw, write, create.

5. Write what you're feeling and then destroy it.

6. Have a solo dance party.

7. Go for a walk.

8. Read the news.

9. Cook yourself a fancy meal.

10. Run, whether it be on a treadmill or down sidewalk. Just move your body.

11. Learn to swear in a foreign language.

12. Reorganize or redecorate.

13. Wander aimlessly.

14. Bake something.

15. Draw or paint on your skin.

16. Meditate.

17. Play with your pet.

18. Take a hot shower.

19. Listen to a podcast.

20. Scribble in magazines.

21. Do some yoga.

22. Plant something and help it grow.

23. Go to a store with candles and smell all of them.

24. Go for a drive down your favorite roads or explore some place new.

25. Make lists.

26. Play your favorite songs and sing along.

27. Have a cup of coffee or tea.

28. Surround yourself with creative people.

29. Watch a foreign film.

30. Listen to new music.

31. Finish something that you never got around to finishing.

32. Draw yourself a bath.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
