a hiatus to relax your mind


do you ever hear

everything all at once

thoughts ideas emotions and it all needs to happen right now


do you ever feel like you cant stop thinking

youre analyzing processing planning preparing

organizing handling refining outlining coordinating constructing

forming straightening arranging adjusting composing worrying

standing up sitting down driving here walking there

writing this erasing that marking thoughts writing dates

texting her calling him emailing this drafting that all in one

single day


do you ever need to get out

do you ever need to press pause

do you ever just need to stop


because i do


so i run

as fast and long as i can

like a hamster on a wheel

spinning round and round and round

and once ive run my mind a million times around so it will no longer muse

i can breathe.
