If you've grown up on top of the clouds, literally, you'll understand this article, if not, totally feel free to indulge yourself in the life of a "giant." Being tall can be the best thing, and sometimes the struggle in your life, I get it.
Growing up, I was the tallest girl, well, student. Because girls hit puberty first, I tended to be a solid foot over everyone, including the guys. It was nice sometimes, but during my middle school days, it was almost embarrassing.
Middle school was the toughest time for me, I towered over the masses, and felt insecure about my height. To talk to friends i literally had to look down, and to take pictures and not look like a freak I had to bend my knees.
I did this thing called Cotillion, it was a weekly formal gathering that taught middle school-high schoolers basic table manner and ball room dances. Let me tell you, the middle school practices were MORTIFYING. Guys would come eye level with boobs, and their hands would "casually" end up on the small of my back, yea way down there. That was when I felt like I was literally from Game of Thrones, like I was one of the Giants, for real. Life seemed hard, back then at least.
Now as a young adult I LOVE my height, I constantly wish I was taller. I don't know what it is, but towering over people makes me feel SO good about myself. I stand out, I have something that makes me special! People would even call me their "tall friend" and I'm like "heck yeah!" Being tall is such a blessing, not bashing the shorties out there, just embracing who I am! Although it can be hard to shop my size, being a size 8/10 can be difficult to shop for when it comes to short-shorts and rompers, I just don't even try with rompers, you know what I mean.
Having long legs and shopping for dresses size medium, good luck, you'll look like you're trying to "show off." Sometimes you get lucky, and man does that feel good. But most of the time I need an extra set of eyes to let me know if the length is okay, I mean, come on, when you look down to check the length it always looks better, until you see yourself in picture, yea talk about short.
Another great thing about being tall is your almost bound to be good at some kind of sport, without even trying. Basketball, check. Volleyball check. Boxing, check. When you have the reach that most tall people have, you have a hidden gold mine. I love sports, I've played them all; tallness had a great effect in almost all of them. Not saying you need to be tall to be good at a sport, I know some amazing 5'1 volleyball players, you go!
Being tall has its struggles and it has its perks. Granted, I love my height. Always embrace who you are, and strive to see the positive side in who you are!
