I am a newly born Belieber. Don't get me wrong -- it's not that I didn't like Justin Bieber's music before his recent album. His Christmas album is top notch and who doesn't like a throwback to "One Less Lonely Girl"? But before Justin Bieber's new album "Purpose" was released, I didn't categorize myself as a Belieber. And now, I listen to his new album on repeat; I listen to it when I get ready in the morning, when I'm studying, during my free time, and I'm still not sick of it. I am officially diagnosing myself with Bieber fever.
For those who aren't familiar with Bieber-related lingo, here are some Urban Dictionary definitions to enlighten you. A Belieber is defined as "One who is an obsessive fan of Justin Bieber." Bieber fever is defined as "The act or disease of being literally obsessed with Justin Bieber. Most commonly found in girls, but occasionally a guy or two." Well, there you have it. Thanks, Urban Dictionary.
After many Bieber-filled minutes the past couple of weeks, I have gathered a few important life lessons from the beautiful songs that give this album purpose.
For starters, "Life Is Worth Living" makes an important statement right in the song title. Much like Hannah Montana's well-known song "Nobody's Perfect," Bieber highlights the fact that people make mistakes, which is OK. It's impossible to be "perfect." In the midst of doubt, it's important to realize no mistake is worth the price of a lifetime lived. Life is a gift; once taken away, it can't be given back.
With the song "Trust," Bieber emphasizes that "sometimes the heart can see what is invisible to the eye." Following your heart and listening to your deepest feelings will help you live the life you truly desire. A crucial part of following your heart is developing trust; trust your inner feelings and trust yourself.
It never hurts to ask for forgiveness. In Bieber’s song "Sorry," he asks if it is too late to apologize and owns up to his mistakes instead of blaming them on someone or something else. Even though you should never say never, believe it is never too late to ask for forgiveness because the outcome is unpredictable. You never know for sure what will happen. It doesn't hurt to try, especially when it comes to asking for forgiveness.
Perhaps the most important song on Bieber's new album is "Purpose." Not only because it's the name of the entire album, but because it focuses on appreciation for others and determination. If you don't give it all you've got and be the best you that you can be, then you are only cheating yourself. If someone inspires you to be your best self, then it is important to give them recognition and be grateful you have them in your life.
All of Bieber's new, catchy tunes encompass life lessons and advice. Listen to his full album on repeat until you get sick of it (if that's even possible) to get the complete life-altering experience and I promise you won't regret it.
*Caution: Risk of catching Bieber fever while listening to "Purpose" is extremely high.*
