5 Life Lessons You Learn When You Have a Hot Mom

As we get older, we realize how fortunate we are for the people who raised us. They helped define the people we became. Good mothers come in all shapes and sizes, but being raised by a MILF brings a unique mother-daughter relationship and has taught me some valuable life lessons.

1. How to share.

My brother is my only sibling, so I never dealt with the notorious warfare that occurs when sisters “borrow” each other’s things. My mom, however, wears a size small, uses nice makeup, and has a substantial income. Having a mother whose walk-in closet is filled with adorable clothes and buys expensive concealer in my shade, I have mastered the skill of knowing how to share my own things (or suck up just enough) and treat others’ belongings with respect.

2. Fashion sense.

The way my mom dresses complements her natural beauty. Sometimes, she puts outfits together that look like she’s about to walk the runway, not head over to the grocery store. Growing up with a mother who was always put together, I picked up some of her knack for style, and love for clothes. My mom taught me the value of looking presentable, how to cuff your jeans (and when not to), and the difference between trendy looks, like shoulder pads, and timeless ones.

3. Coping with jealousy.

I know my mom is beautiful and that she has the body of a teenager. In fact, I’m proud of it, and hope that as I get older I will find that I have been blessed with similar genes. But, it can become irritating when guy friends constantly remind me that she’s a “MILF.” Usually, guys with enough balls (or who are douchey enough) to say a thing like this are quite good looking, and I wish they would stop drooling over my mother and start paying attention to me. Having a hot mom has taught me how to cope with jealousy by not comparing myself to others. My mom might be beautiful, but truly, everyone is beautiful in their own way.

4. How to be a boss-lady.

Obviously being a good person, let alone a good parent, goes far beyond looks. My mom’s looks are the icing on the cake, as she works five days a week, chauffeurs my brother and I, and cooks dinners like a gourmet chef. Having a hot mom has shown me how to get things done with elegance and style. She taught me that I don’t need to be as famous as Beyoncé to be a boss-lady.

5. Modesty.

Probably the most important lesson having a hot mom has taught me is the importance of inner beauty. My mother is never vain, never flashy, and always modest about her movie-star looks. Although she takes care of herself, her looks are not her priority, and she does not define herself by her beauty. As I got older and began wearing makeup, buying revealing clothes, and flirting with guys, she would constantly remind me that “looks fade.” And although I looked back at her thinking yeah right because she seemed to only become more glamorous as she reached her mid-40s, I knew what she meant. Anyone can be sexy-looking, but it takes something special to be sexy on the inside too.

My mom is a MILF, but she is also my biggest role model.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
