It's the Most Stressful Time of the Year...

The semi-annual week of panic and madness that we all wish we could avoid.

It's the Most Stressful Time of the Year...

Oh finals, you've surprised me yet again. It seems like just yesterday I was returning from Christmas Break, determined to get a great GPA and actually be prepared for my classes. Alas, we have entered into the time of papers, projects, tests, and finals. Once again, we're surprised this is happening. Although it's a stressful-crazy-blur, the final weeks of school are almost so awful and weird that you love them.

Fashion-wise, anything goes.

Honestly, the comfier the better. Also whatever is most laundry-efficent.

Looking like you just got hit by a bus is totally acceptable.

No one will say "you look tired" because they just know. Yes, you are.

No one judges you for how often you order Jimmy Johns to the library.

Three times in one night? No judgements, only jealousy from anyone within a 10 foot radius.

See someone napping in a public place on campus? You envy them for those precious minutes of rest.

"I'll just rest my head for a second. Quick 10 minute nap."

People will do almost anything to procrastinate.

"Wanna go get food in Austin?" "Wanna go watch intramural games?" "Wanna play raquetball?" "Wanna go to the Dollar Store?"

Everyone tries to up one another on how much they have to do.

"I have 2 finals on Tuesday" "Oh well I have 3 finals and a paper due within three days so..."

Your main food group will be coffee.

*not doctor recommended, but you gotta do what you gotta do*

You'll get an intense caffeine buzz and feel unstoppable.

3 hours of non-stop studying and then a crash.

You spend vital time calculating the minimum you can get on a test to get the grade you desire, and your possible final GPA.

"Okay I can get a 106 on the final to get an A+, 93 to get an A, or I can get a 75 to get a B+.."

Snapchats will be posted with ungodly hours, because they are the highest symbol of honor when you're studying.

"#stillgrinding"

People will say "my life is in shambles" a lot.

Totally guilty of this.

You'll look through all of your notes from the semester and realize you know nothing.

"Nope. I don't know where to start."

You'll listen to really weird music to get you hyped to study.

From 90's throwbacks to classical piano, somehow you feel better about life.

You'll look up motivational quotes to reassure yourself of your natural brilliance.

"I is smart!"

Crying is normal. Crying is accepted. Crying is healthy.

No shame.

You'll use snacks as motivation to keep studying, but get distracted and just eat all of your snacks.

"One Sour Patch Kid per page I read" = mindless snacking. Also sugar stomachaches.

Going to the library is pretty much a party.

You're most likely to see all of your friends and everyone you've ever passed on campus in the library during finals. You'll also call the library the "club" because saying that you're "clubbing" is cooler than saying "crying into my textbooks in a study cubicle." #ClubMoody

Going to the library also tests your ability to pass up being social for the sake of learning.

"Nope, sorry, trying to study."

You'll take an obscene amount of Buzzfeed quizzes.

You may not know the required material, but from How Much Of You Is Actually Hummus? to Are You More Taylor Swift Or Swiffer WetJet?, now you know yourself.

In the middle of studying, you'll put your head on the table and say "I'm done and I don't care."

Because giving up is always a real option.

You'll pick your head back up and carry on because you need to pass.

Never gonna give you up, GPA hopes and dreams. Sorry that I let you down.

Your room will turn into a mess.

"It's an organized mess. Kind of."

You email your teachers very sweetly asking for extra credit or for that extra .4 grade bump.

"First off I want to say thank you so much for being such a great professor. I hate to ask, but do you think there's any way you could bump my grade?" <-- actual real life example of what I have emailed professors.

Your brain will turn to mush at some point.

"Are you drunk texting me?" "No, I've just been reading for 4 hours straight."

People will be done with finals and go home on Friday, while you still have finals that next week.

It's just not fair.

You'll take a pre-test and everything you studied will go out the window for a second.

*looks at problem* "I'm illiterate"

When your brain wakes up and starts knowing the information:

"I KNOW THESE THINGS."

You walk out of the library at 4 am, feeling accomplished and confident.

"Yeah I feel pretty confident about it."

Good luck to everyone on finals, and stop procrastinating!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
