If you were alive, my life would be so different right now. This isn't a sad story or anything--just the thought that everything would be changed if you were still here.

I definitely remember you. I'll never be able to forget. All I know is that my life was different because of you, and it was forever changed when you left. I know there was nothing anyone could do to stop it, and I am okay with that. Sometimes I think you leaving was the last thing you could give me. It broke me, but I came back stronger. I know that you need to treasure everything and everyone that you care about because no one is around forever. Family isn't always the people you are related to; some of the best people in the world aren't related to you, and you bring them into your family. No one has to understand your concept of family besides you, and that's a great freedom. Love those around you who deserve it.

I cherish our memories as some of the best times of my life. I cherish the fact that you helped raise me and gave me things that no one can take away. You have built me as the person I am today in your living and your passing, and I'm forever grateful.

I know you still hear me and watch me. I still talk to you, and sometimes it's like you're talking right back to me. I'm able to figure out what you would have told me in person and it helps me solve my problems. I know you see who I surround myself with, and I know you are proud of me for everything I do.

This isn't a long letter because I know you can see what I'm trying to say. You helped me through rough times, and we were the best of friends. I still am heartbroken some days that I can't call you or get a hug from you, but I always know you're there. Most of all, I know that you love me. It's sometimes even more important for me to know that you know how much you meant to me, how much you changed my life and taught me to be the person I am to be.
