Letting God Take Control

I'm a planner, but His plan is so much better.

Letting God Take Control
Dreaming

I have every moment of my every day planned out.

Okay, that's a slight exaggeration.

Well, I have 90 percent of my life planned out.

Going to college, I knew I wanted to be someone important and do something that would leave a mark. I didn't know how I would accomplish that per say, but I wanted it. I still want it. I want it so badly that I can almost taste it. My mom is always telling me that if you could bottle my ambition you could make a fortune, and I think she's quite right. I want so badly to do something.

Something that is so unbelievably amazing that I can sit back and say:

"I finally did it!"

But, then sometimes...

I wonder if I will ever get to the point where I'm satisfied. Where I can just sit and appreciate everything around me. If I'll ever be okay with just being where I am.

Or if, just maybe, that everything doesn't work out just the way I expect.

To me? That's slightly terrifying.

Not reaching for what I desire is pretty scary to someone who's had all these moments of her life planned out to the day.

However, I know I can't do this by myself. It's way too much to handle, and honestly?

I don't want to do it alone. I want to know I can depend on someone to have my back and stick by me when I have no idea where to go next.

So I turn to God.

Strangely, this is the most comforting thing that I can do in this instance.

He is the man with the plan, after all. He already knows my fears and worries and knows exactly what I'm going to do. Panicking will not help me. Freaking out about my life and goals isn't going to change anything or help me. It's just going to make me more frazzled than I already am.

Suddenly, everything is a bit different. Nothing drastic has changed, but I do feel calmer. More sure. Even happier.

I will keep planning. I will keep making impossible goals. I will keep reaching for heights that people say are impossible. I will keep planning.

But, when I do, I'm going to take a step back. Because if things change, it's for a reason. It may not make sense at the time, but it will one day.

Like my faith, I have to have patience. I have to be willing to wait for someone else's plan. Mine is imperfect and keeps changing, but his never will.

That, at least, I can take comfort in.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
