Dear 30-Year Old Me At 30
A Woman's Business

Dear 30 year old Becky,

I hope your life is everything you hoped it would be when you were little. I hope all of your dreams realistic and unrealistic came true (or are going to come true soon)! I hope by now you have realized the things that are important to you in this life. Most importantly though I hope you're happy with the life you are living.

I hope you're happy because when you are your cheeks hurt and you say things that don't make sense. Right now your closest friends are what makes you happy. This summer you worked Housekeeping and it wasn't the easiest for you, but you made it a positive experience. Some of the people you worked with became some pretty good friends. I hope you laugh a lot in your life. Laughing is proven to be good for you, you know? Although your laugh is loud and obnoxious it still needs to be heard from time to time, remember that! "Nothing is worth it if you're not happy." That's something you should live by if you aren't already.

By now you're probably married. You probably got married to your best friend. I hope he makes you feel important and brings joy to your life. I hope he's the one you've always dreamed about, even if you never knew it. I hope you kissed your fair share of frogs so that you knew when you found your prince. As of right now, you've kissed a few frogs. No prince yet and that's not a bad thing. This gives you time to build yourself up, They always say you have to love yourself before you can love somebody else. I hope you love yourself and your husband. If I know you, (which I mean I kind of do) you're crazy about him and he's crazy about you too.

I hope your wedding was the day you dreamed about when you were a little girl. I hope you made all the decorations by hand even if you didn't have the time to do it all. We both know it wouldn't be your wedding if it wasn't mostly decorated by you. I mean this is your day! After all, you have always told yourself you will only get married once, so I'm sure the day will be nothing short of elegance. You always wanted a backyard wedding with white chairs incase you have forgotten by now. As of right now you want a sweetheart neckline with a poofy bottom! And you better not forget the sparkles! You want your wedding to have a rustic feel to it and this has been your dream since high school! Only you can make it happen.

I think another important point for you to remember is the person you where right now in this time. You are loud, hard to handle, kind, passionate towards others, determined, busy, and you take on anything. You could take on the entire world if time allowed you to do so. Sometimes you sell yourself too short. You don't give yourself enough credit for the amazing things that you have accomplished, but I think that is mostly you being humble and not feeling comfortable in the spotlight. You just finished your sophomore year and next year looks really bright for you. You will be a returning RA, a senator again, an AQPB coordinator for coffee house, and the Saint Squad Intern. You will accomplish all things if you put your mind to them. I mean Tinkerbell did always teach you "All you need is faith, trust, and a little Pixie dust." Then you can truly do anything you put your mind to.

You want to be a kindergarten teacher right now. You have known forever that working with kids was something you are very passionate about. Ever since the movie Annie came into your life. You wanted to be the nice version of Mrs. Hannigan to begin with, but then as you grew up you decided teaching was it! Sophomore year you got to do 40 hours in a classroom with kindergarteners and you absolutely loved it! St. Stephens Kindergarten class was forever your first class of kids!

You've been through a lot that people don't know. You are a very open person, but you choose the stories you tell people. I think that's something that makes you able to connect to other people so well. You understand sometimes what they go through and really feel for them, but you don't always make the stories about yourself even if you have gone through the same thing.

Right now you have some really good friends who love you a lot. You are lucky to have them in your life. If you haven't thought about them in a while or talked to them. Make time to reconnect with them now. After all the things friends have done for you, take the time to email them, call them, message them. Something. The time to act is now, you never know what could have been or what will be.

You have a soul sister. She's kind of like a spirit animal, but better. She brings out the better half of you. She makes you feel like you can do anything. Her kindness radiates through to you. She's always there when you need her the most. She's just as indecisive as you are. She likes to make you feel important and you don't thank her enough for it. I hope you guys still talk. If you don't go call her. I'm sure you can catch up and talk for hours about all the things that are going on in your lives. Knowing the two of you though, you probably live right next door and have the same car in different colors. You probably walk your dogs together every day. You guys are the friendship crush that everybody has. Tell her how much you love her.

I hope you're happy with your life and how it turned out. I hope you dance even when people are staring. It's never stopped you before. I hope you laugh uncontrollably at the stupid things.

I hope you are the person you want to be.

Love always,

Becky at 20 <3

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
