To my favorite teacher in high school,
Looking back now that I'm in college, I would just like to thank you for everything that you taught me during my four years of having you as a teacher in high school. When I came in as a freshman, you were relatively new to the school as well, but I still learned more from you than most other teachers – and not just in the class. I could tell that you truly wanted to help me develop as a student and as a person in general. You always offered extra help and were willing to talk to me about anything, whether it was school, friends, family, or sports. Thank you for being one of the people I could count on not to judge me on what I said.
One of the reasons that you had such a positive impact on me throughout high school and beyond was because you always made class enjoyable. Even though I had you first thing in the morning, when I am usually tired and somewhat cranky, I looked forward to your class every day. Your bubbly personality and funny little remarks were the perfect start to those long school days, so thank you for helping me to survive those early mornings. Even when you were tough on us as a class, I appreciated it because I knew that you were trying to make us better students. I consider myself very lucky to have a teacher that influenced me in such a positive way, and someone who I can still keep in touch with and talk to even though I do not have you as a teacher anymore. Thank you for being more than just a teacher.
Sincerely,
A grateful former student
