Dear Officers,
I’m sure there are many thankless nights that you come home from a day where you had to see many terrible things. You had to carry out justice and arrest people. You have to worry about your safety when doing a simple traffic stop. You worry about tomorrow and if you will see your family after work. You walk into work not knowing if today might be your last. You now have to worry about some lunatic gunning you down just because you are in uniform. You may have seen a few of your fellow brothers and sisters killed in the line of duty. But despite all of this, you still risk your life every day for the sake of civilian safety. You signed up to protect and serve.
You don’t really get a reward for it either. In fact, police are disliked and even hated by some. But this doesn’t stop you. You swore to protect and serve. It honestly breaks my heart that some people hate you just because of the uniform. People teach kids to fear police growing up by using you as a threat because they don’t know how to discipline their children. Then they grow up with this idea that police are the bad guys. Now instead of running to you for help when they are in trouble, they run from the sight of you.
Your shifts might be really long and you might have to work holidays. You risk your life and are away from your family on holidays just to ensure that other families are safe and kept out of danger. Regardless, you are always there to serve and protect. Instead of being at home with your family at night, you are patrolling the roads. There are police that also do small actions that go unnoticed like stopping on the interstate to help someone change a tire or buying a meal for a hungry child. Sometimes you participate in community events and help raise money for charities.
With that being said, there are many people out there that still appreciate police officers. Some give small tokens of appreciation through discounts, free meals, kind words, etc, but we can never thank you enough for your sacrifice. You serve as a role model for so many children and some even refer to you as real super heroes.
I just wanted to give you a reminder that there are still people out here that love and support you. I have family and friends that are police officers and I see what you guys go through daily. Thank you for being a community hero.
We love you so very much and thank you for everything that you have done for the community as a whole.Your life matters to us.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends"
