A Letter To My Own Personal Superhero

"If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes, only then would you realize how special you are to me"

A Letter To My Own Personal Superhero

There are so many letters circulating around the internet talking about how wonderful people’s moms are, and I am sure they are that wonderful person that you all make them seem to be, but to be honest, no one compares to my mom. You see, everyone can say that, but no one understands just how amazing my mom is.

She is my every single day super hero, she saves my life, gives me a reason to be the best I can be, and I thank god for her every single day.

This isn’t a thank you, it is more than that, kind of like a document you can keep forever just so you know how loved you are.

I should start by saying how special you are. You have qualities that not many people have all together, it is something that I admire and look up to every single day and I aspire to be half the person that you are one day.

My favorite memory with you is when you said, “The Power of the Mind is a Beautiful Thing.” Little did I know that would be stuck with me for years now, and will continue to stay with me forever. It is my life motto.

You are not only my best friend and someone that I go to for literally everything, but you know me more than I know myself. You just get who I am, some people can’t say that about their moms and I am forever grateful for our relationship. You know how to make the bad days a bit brighter and the good days even better than they already are.

You are kind, so kind. You are always willing to give more than you take, after all you are a nurse, and from many people I have talked too, one of the best around.

You have been through a lot and you continue, if not continue to be stronger than you were the day before. Hardships can either make or break a person but you chose to rise and keep going. I know every day is hard for you, but I just want you to know how much I appreciate you choosing to not let anything, in the measure of what we had gone through, bring you down.

You are grateful. You deserve the world and more but you are more worried about how our family is before we get to you. It makes me mad sometimes because you don’t realize how much of an impact you have on all of our lives.

But you know the thing I admire the most about you?

Your passion for everything is contagious

I always loved the quote, “Passion is Energy”, and that is you. You are the energy that fuels so many people. You are the one that you hear from across the soccer field cackling about something. It is a cackle that I will always be proud of.

Mom, you have taught me more than I could have ever imagined. I really don’t think I could do this whole life thing without the constant texting every single minute of the day, calling to just talk about stupid boy drama, or hugging you just because I need it. You give me the energy, the passion, the drive to be the person I am today, and I am so so so proud to say that.

All wrapped up in one sentence, I want to say;

You are the type of person that will NEVER go unnoticed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
