"How lucky we are to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." Our last days spent together over the summer were some of the best, yet at the same time some of the hardest days of my life. Our last few days of summer were filled with smiles, laughs, tears, and memories as we checked things off our summer bucket lists before we all went our separate ways for college.
Throughout high school we all dreamed of the day we could finally get away from our hometown and go to college. We celebrated our acceptance letters but I don't think we realized how hard being away from each other was going to be. We bawled our eyes out like babies when we hugged each other for the last time before leaving for college. Although we were sad, we knew we were about to begin amazing new chapters in our lives. But no matter how far away college or life brings us from each other, we're connected by something much stronger; friendship.
I want to thank you all for showing me the true meaning of friendship, I truly wouldn't have been able to survive high school without you all by my side, or made it through my first semester of college without your daily texts, phone calls, face times, weekends spent home, or campus visits.
There were hard times, sure sometimes we fought just like every other group of friends does. But you were all by my side through all the bad test scores, break ups, and mental breakdowns.
And then of course there were the good times, our trips to the beach, six flags, concerts, apple picking, pool days, sleepovers, and ice cream dates.
But to be straight forward, not being with you all everyday in college sucks. It really sucks.
We don't know every detail of each others lives anymore or the latest gossip, but when a break comes and we're all at home we can always talk for hours and hours about everything happening in our lives, and gossip about what's happening in other people's lives lol.
We don't talk everyday and sometimes we go weeks without talking, but that's normal, everyone is busy and on different schedules but the best feeling is seeing you all over breaks, and nothing has changed with our friendships.
The group chat is a lot quieter than it was in high school. You don't get my annoying texts at 7 a.m. before school starts or the daily plan making texts of where we're going to get food or what we're gonna do over the weekend but now you get the "what should I wear to the party tonight," "you'll never guess what happened to me this week" or "this reminded me of you" texts.
I am constantly being reminded of you guys at college, and going on a shopping trip, going to wing night at Buffalo Wild Wings, and not dressing up in a group Halloween costume with you guys just feels weird.
Planning trips to meet up with each other at college gets me through those hard and stressful weeks.
We've already began planning road trips, beach days, and concerts for when we're all together again over the summer. I can't wait to be reunited with you all again soon. It's as simple as this; were better when we're together.
From Florida to New York, and over 1,460 miles, when it comes down to it, we're only separated by distance, not heart. I love and miss you all more than you could ever imagine, thank you for being such great best friends.
