Dear Grandma,
Hi. It's been a while since I last saw you. I was younger when you passed away, but I still sometimes wonder how life would be if you were still here. You were always the one that got everyone together and that made everyone get along with each other. You were the one that made sure we all got together for holidays and went to church each Sunday. I wish I got to know you better before you passed away. I wish I was older and wiser and had more time to be with you. I know you are in a better place now, with Jesus up in Heaven, cancer-free. But there are times I wish you were still here so you could watch me grow up, watch my sister grow up, watch the father (my dad/your son) has become, and offer up your guidance when times are tough. I wish you were able to go to my band concerts and volleyball games in high school. I wish you were here when I first started dating. I wish you were here when I first started going to college. I wish you were here for my sister's soccer games. I wish you were here so my sister would know how wonderful of a grandmother you were. I wish you were here so you could see how wonderful of a father my dad is. I wish you were here to see how wonderfully you raised him. I wish you were here.
Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter are just not the same without you. I can still remember begging my parents to let me stay at your house over the weekend. You would read your bible every morning, and I would sneak downstairs to listen to you pray. You would spoil me with presents and never let me leave hungry. I remember that chalkboard you gave me when I was younger, I would always use it to play "school" and teach my stuffed animals addition and subtraction. (I think you knew I would be a teacher before I did.)
I want to thank you. I want to thank you for all the love and kindness you gave to me and everyone else. You were always so nice to everyone. I want to thank you for all the basketball games you made it to, the school plays, the piano recitals, etc. I want to thank you for being so strong even when times were tough. I want to thank you for never giving up on my dad and uncles. I want to thank you for putting others first before yourself and showing me what it means to care for people. I want to thank you for the life lessons you taught me. I want to thank you for showing me God's love and mercy. I want to thank you for being a part of my life.
I love you grandma. I wish you were still here, but I know we will meet again someday.
Love Always,
Your Granddaughter
