A Letter to My Boyfriend: The Thanks I Can't Express
"The Kiss" by Jerrod Maruyama

You have been with me long enough to know that I do not like to say or express my feelings. I keep them bottled up, so in this letter I want to say all the things I can't say to you in person.

First off, thank you for being boring with me. You understand that I am dead tired after weight lifting or practice. I just want to lay down and watch Netflix, and instead of wanting to hang out with friends or go out and do something, you watch Netflix with me. I love that you are perfectly fine with being lazy and antisocial.

Thank you for the random conversations about absolutely nothing that make my day so much better. You have no clue how happy it makes me to just talk to you about anything and everything. You never ignore my pointless conversations, and you always respond to me. I can have an intellectual conversation with you too. I have never been able to talk to someone everyday like the way I talk to you.

In relation, thank you for accepting me for who I am. I never have to change for you. You appreciate my imperfections, and you adore my flaws. I do not have to hide any part of my personality with you. You can handle my big attitude because you can give me attitude right back to me.

Thank you for pushing me to be my best. You want me to dress for success. You want me to cut back on my unhealthy eating habits. You push me to take workouts seriously, so I can get in better shape. You also believe in me. When I think that an assignment is going to be a failure, you make me believe that it is not going to be that bad. You believe in my athletic abilities and that no matter how I did in the tournaments, I did my best. You believe in my future, and you know that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

Lastly, thank you for being you. You are one of the best things that has ever happened in my life. You make me a better person, and I love being with you. We have so much in common that I do not think that I could ever become bored of you. I apologize that I could never tell you these things in person, but I think you already knew them, so thank you for everything you do for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
