A Letter To My Best Friend In Nursing School
Sierra Brooks

Hey bestie,

I just wanted to take the opportunity to dedicate a whole article to you as you begin the next incredible stage in your life in nursing school. Here are a few quick things I want you to know and never forget.

I am going to miss our hangout time

Going from being able to pop up at your house whenever to having to plan when to come over is going to take some getting used to. Hang in there with me.

I will be here when things get rough

If you feel like crying, then you better call me. I don't care how early or how late it is. If you need a good roll-on-the-floor laugh, check your Snapchat, or better yet, think of all our inside jokes. If you want to up, you best believe I am putting my foot down and coming to slap you. This is your dream. Never give up!

You can practice on me when I'm sick

You of all people know I hate going to the doctor and taking medicine. However, I guess I do not mind letting you practice your new skills from nursing school on me.

I cannot wait to hang out

Yes! Finally! About freaking time! I know you won’t be getting the opportunity much to go out, but I promise you, do not ever have to worry about me turning down that opportunity to go out when you do have some free time.

We have a lot to discuss

Technically I could be a nurse with you since we have watched almost every Grey's Anatomy season together. If you ever want to discuss medicine -- or McDreamy -- remember I know a lot about hospital room drama.

God is with you

In the days to come, you'll experience all-nighters, tests, clinicals, and stress upon stress. Know that God is with you. Do not hesitate to pray and let Him take that stress away. He is your best friend. You are going to need Him more than anything.

I got you covered

More wine? How about some food? Do not worry I am on my way over with some now! I can not having you working these long nights on an empty stomach!

You are gorgeous

Tired? No worries. You rock the whole bags-under-your-eyes look. Trust me no matter how saggy they are, you’re still pretty. Your hair? Phenomenal! You work that updo girl! Meredith Grey rocks the over-worked look, and you do too! It shows you have important work to do. Truth.

I am proud of you

I remember all the days you cried and wanted to change majors because you thought you would not get into the nursing program, but here you are now. I knew all that hard work would pay off for you in the end. The world is going to need people like you helping them when they are hurt or sick.

I know these next few semesters will get harder and harder, but I have faith that you will survive them all. So when the end of nursing school does come to an end and you are officially a nurse, I hope these wise words come to mind: "It's a beautiful day to save lives" - Derek Shepherd

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
