To my favorite teacher, thank you for helping me out

An Open Letter To My Favorite Teacher
Today I Found Out

High school is a really difficult time for anyone, no matter their situation. When you're in high school, you're too young to do half the things you want to do but too old to do the other half, you barely know who you are, or who you want to be, and the cliques and friend groups surrounding you are changing at a constant pace. Between this and the attempt to hold a minimum wage job after school while also playing sports and being engaged in assignments, it can feel relieving just to survive until Friday. Throughout the hardships that every student inevitably faces in high school, having incredible teachers makes the journey noticeably easier.

To my favorite teacher, thank you, for helping me out.

First of all, I believe you deserve all the recognition in the world. Although I could go on for hours and hours about how difficult being an average high school student is, I know that being a teacher can be equally as challenging, and you deserve more credit than you're given. On top of being 'just a teacher,' you're also a leader, a listener, and a friend to those who need it. That alone takes a lot, but you also have the ability to spread your knowledge to others and embody so much passion while doing so. Not to mention you put up with multiple teenagers on a daily basis, and everyone knows that's the farthest thing from easy anyone can get. I applaud you for your patience, your courage, your wisdom, and your selflessness.

Furthermore, thank you for making learning fun. Students are obviously in school to comprehend what they're being taught, but you've made it so much easier by actually putting effort into what you're teaching, and I speak on behalf of all students when I say we appreciate the energy you put into teaching us.

Because of all that you have done for me, I must let you know that the information that you pass onto me doesn't stop affecting me when the bell rings at the end of your class. I apply everything you have taught me to the real world, and any time that this happens, I remember the incredible person that taught me what I know. Your imprint reaches far beyond your classroom, and I hope you're aware of just how impressive that is.

Clearly, I would not be where I am today without the phenomenal teachers that helped build me. I truly am thankful for every teacher I've had throughout the years, but certain ones have affected me in such a way that I'm confident I'll never forget anything they've taught me; whether that be from a textbook, or simply a life lesson.

You have the honor of being my favorite teacher, as I had the honor of being your student. I hope you know how large the impact is that you've had on me.

With the most respect,

The student you've inspired

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
